May 9: Evolutionary Band goes for Gold at Mothers Day Concert
Canadian Idol judge Jake Gold, one of Canada’s most successful artist managers and music producers, will be in Greater Sudbury on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 to attend Evolutionary’s annual Mother’s Day Concert.
“Music changed my life,” says Gold, who has 30 years of experience in the music industry. “If my visit can help change the life of others, then seeing Evolutionary is just a bonus!” Gold says he looks for “feeling” in a performance and loves the connection an artist makes with the audience.
Evolutionary looks forward to connecting with the audience at this year’s Mother’s Day concert which will take place at 7 pm in the gym at Confederation Secondary School, 1918 Main Street West in Val Caron. The concert will begin with local band BAZ and Keith. Doors will open at 6 pm and everyone is welcome to attend. Q92’s Holly Thorne will host the concert. Listen to Q92 for a chance to win tickets.
Tickets, at $10 each, are available from members of the band and crew, the main office at Confederation Secondary School, Jett Landry Music in Sudbury and Hanmer Home Hardware in the Hanmer Shopping Mall. Tickets will also be available at the door. To ensure your seats at this must-see performance, be sure to purchase your tickets early. The Mother’s Day Concert sells out quickly.
"The level of musicianship and technical expertise continues at an all-time high this year," says Evolutionary Music Director Norm McIntosh. "We look forward to another stellar performance by the band and crew as we present our annual tribute to mothers in our community. We are also delighted that Jake Gold, a highly-respected music insider, from the successful TV series Canadian Idol, will be joining us for this live performance."
Evolutionary is a 27-piece rock band which includes four vocalists, a nine piece rhythm section, four trumpets, four trombones, two alto saxes and four tenor saxes, supported by a 12-member stage crew.
As Action Sudbury’s ‘No Drinking and Driving” Band, Evolutionary has earned a solid reputation for its dynamic performances. The band tours from March until June, performing in front of over 8,000 students per year.
Each performance features a high-energy, choreographed show with an exciting light display including lasers, strobes, smoke machines, and intelligent lighting.
